Drop by your county courthouse and check to see what "major" building permits have been issued (or applied for). They list address and you can scout out the potential spot(s) to see if abandoned homes/buildings/etc. are waiting to be demolished.

Great spots if you get in before & during bulldozing. After the concrete or asphalt is applied----it's too late!
